About the event

Celebrate Spring with yoga in the park! Songbird's Spring Equinox outdoor yoga event is shifting just a mile east to Macken Park. Grab your mat and your favorite yoga buddies and find your way to 1002 Clark Ferguson Drive, NKCMO 64116. Park in the lot just east of the tennis courts (you'll see the Wheel Park and Community Center on the opposite side of the street). Once you've parked, make your way toward NKC's Parade of Hearts installation! If you haven't seen or heard about this public art project celebrating our city, visit the website for more or check out the 1-minute video from artist Catherine Mores, describing her City of Fountains heart: https://theparadeofhearts.com/hearts/city-of-fountains/

I am so excited that NKC is a stop on the Parade of Hearts and this particular heart could not be more perfect for Songbird Studios Yoga and Swim School's first outdoor practice!  In the description of her work, Mores writes:

"Water is the thing that connects us all. The fountains give us a place to gather and connect and celebrate and honor our city’s historical legacy. So the design of my heart celebrates that. It has kind of a splashy water droplet design on the front. And then on the back, it conveys the feeling of movement of water up through the base, out through the top...I believe that people are not only connected by their thirst for water, but for connection. Fountains provide us a place to come together and offer a confluence of the themes, of connection. Everyone has a place to feel celebrated and honored and seen and heard."

Wow--talk about confluence! Originally, I set the intention to use this Spring Equinox event to connect with the elements of earth, water, air, fire, ether and to connect with community as we give thanks for making it through Winter and welcome a new season. I can't wait to connect with all who can make it Sunday. With the sound of the wind in the trees and the songs of the birds as our soundtrack may we all feel heard, indeed, and may our practice leave you feeling connected with all that makes you feel rooted and resilitent, warm and refreshed, light and free.
